Mishaya gorilla group is found in Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The initial birth of Mishaya group occurred in 2010 when Shongi group split into two with a splinter section led by Mishaya silverback. So later in 2014, the silverback Mishaya died from obstruction of intestinal gut leading to the disintegration of other group members. In May 2018, some members of the former Mishaya were found under the leadership of a new male, hence resumption of habituation. Mishaya is currently led by an identified silverback and is composed of 8 individuals including 1 silverback, 1 blackback, 3 adult females, and 3 infants. Mishaya group is still under habituation and monitoring.
