Join us in supporting conservation of the mountain gorilla and its threatened habitat

Mountain gorillas are among the rarest of the world's great apes, with only two sub-populations, each of which numbers fewer than 400 individuals. The activities of IGCP and its partners are crucial to their continued survival, to the protection of their forest habitat and, ultimately, to the welfare of the local communities living around the parks. The survival of the programme itself depends on the support of a variety of donors including bilateral and multilateral agencies, foundations, corporations, individual benefactors and members of the general public.

How can I help to support IGCP's work?
Here are some of the ways in which you can support the programme:

  • Visit the mountain gorillas and bring revenue to the parks that protect them
  • Visit other attractions in and around the gorilla parks, to ensure that tourism revenue contributes to the local economy
  • Buy local handicrafts to support small-scale enterprise (see Tourism)
  • Buy merchandise on-line (see Gallery)
  • Encourage companies operating in the range states to behave in an environmentally responsible way
  • Become a member or supporter of one of the IGCP partners (see Contacts)
  • Make a donation
  • Encourage relatives, friends and colleagues to do any of the above
