Bwindi – Sarambwe Mountain Gorilla Population grows to 459, Global Count Now Stands at 1,063.

Collaborative conservation efforts pay off as survey results indicate an increase in the number of mountain gorillas in the Bwindi – Sarambwe eco system. Results released today by Uganda’s Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities and the Greater Virunga Transboundary Collaboration indicate that the number of the mountain gorillas in the eco system has grown to 459 from an estimated 400 in 2011.
