National Geographic photographer Mattias Klum joined the census teams during the 2010 census of the mountain gorillas of the Virunga Massif and has shared his photos with all of us. IGCP is grateful to our coalition partner WWF-Sweden for support for the census and for bringing Mattias Klum.
While census teams did their best to avoid contact with mountain gorillas (instead counting and documenting night nests and dung), the photographer spent extra time with habituated mountain gorillas and captured some excellent shots.
