About 120 backpacks worth $2400 have been donated to Volcanoes National Park to help rangers carry and keep their field supplies safe especially surgical masks, hand-sanitizers and other important gorilla monitoring tools. Speaking about the donation, Volcanoes Chief Park, Warden Prosper Uwingeli said, “The recent supply of backpacks to rangers demonstrated yet another commitment from IGCP to support the Park during this challenging period of Covid-19”. Thanks to WWF-UK that made it possible for IGCP to support the rangers. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the region, IGCP with support from WWF Sweden, WWF-Norway, WWF-UK and Partners in Conservation have donated various food, health and sanitation supplies to park staff to help them cope with the pandemic and to ensure safety of the monitoring teams and the endangered mountain gorillas.

The International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP) currently consists of Conservation International, Fauna & Flora International and the World Wide Fund for Nature. We recognise that the earth's survival is dependent on humanity's ability to maintain a healthy and balanced environment that includes all species of wildlife.
